Golden sands are just the beginning...
Staying at No. 42 Margate means you’re already exactly where you need to be - but if you feel like wandering a little further, there’s plenty waiting
just along the coast (and slightly inland too). Venture beyond and you’ll find so much more waiting within easy reach: cathedral cities, oyster-strewn
shores, and storybook streets waiting to be wandered. Here are a few of our favourite nearby spots, all worth visiting while staying at No. 42 Margate.
Whitstable - 25 mins
Known for its oysters and
easy-going charm, it’s the kind
of place you come for a coastal
stroll and stay for lunch that turns
into the afternoon. Expect beach
huts, little galleries, and plenty of
places to eat and drink right by
the water.
Canterbury - 38 mins
Cobbled streets, independent shops
and a cathedral that quietly steals
the show. A city steeped in history,
best explored at an unhurried pace,
with time for a long lunch before
returning to the coast.

Ramsgate - 15 mins
Centred around one of the UK’s
only Royal Harbours, Ramsgate
has a slightly grander seaside
feel. Watch the boats come
and go, explore the harbourfront cafés and restaurants, or
take a walk along the marina.
Sandwich - 30 mins
One of Kent’s best-preserved medieval
towns, and quietly one of its most
charming. Wander narrow streets,
cross ancient bridges, and follow the
river for a slower, more peaceful kind of
day out. It’s compact, easy to explore,
and full of those small, unexpected
details that make it feel like a real find.
Broadstairs - 10 mins
A classic British seaside town just
minutes along the coast, with sandy
bays, cliûtop walks, cafés and a touch
of Dickens charm.
