Bath
As Jane Austen famously wrote in
Northanger Abbey Oh! Who can ever be tired of Bath?
Roman Baths & the city’s historic centre
In the winter, bundle up and explore the Roman Baths and the rest of
Bath’s historic centre: Georgian architecture, narrow streets, the river
- very atmospheric in winter. Combine that with a visit to Bath Abbey
- Gothic architecture, stained glass, and a peaceful but grand indoor
experience (especially welcome if weather’s chilly). A stroll over Pulteney
Bridge and along the river gives a lovely wintery riverside walk: shops,
cafés, nice photo-ops.
The Holburne Museum
Used as Lady Danbury’s House
in Bridgerton, The Holburne
is a fascinating museum.
Don McCullin: Broken Beauty’
exhibits in early 2026. Known
for his dramatic black-andwhite photographs with
subjects spanning conflict,
humanitarian crises and
post-war Britain, as well as
landscape, portrait, and
still-life, the exhibition brings
together some of his most
iconic images from his 70
year career. At the core of the
exhibition will be a group of
McCullin’s most recent works: images of Roman sculptures, captured in
museums around the world, that have not previously been shown
in the UK. Until 4th May.
